What is a Cerec® Crown?

dental crowns turkey

A Dental Crown is a dental restoration that completely covers a tooth or dental implant and it is typically fixed to the tooth using traditional dental cement. Crowns are recommended to cover teeth that are damaged, broken or worn down (Crowns are also considered to be a full Dental Veneer). In some cases where your existing teeth are abnormally shaped or you are unhappy with the general appearance of them they can be recommended for a smile makeover. Crowns can be sculptured to match your existing teeth, close gaps (bridge work) or create a new smile makeover. They have a longer life span when compared to other dental treatments such as Veneers & Lumineers. This makes them not only an alternative but a better investment. Dental Crowns can be aesthetically fabricated to reflect “light” like natural teeth, and mimic the shape, size and colour of the surrounding teeth. Your natural tooth underneath is preserved, protecting your natural tooth and gums for a longer period of time.

About CEREC© Crowns:

CEREC© Crowns are crafted from a block of Pure Porcelain. If you are looking for a natural looking metal free Crown CEREC© is the perfect option for you. CEREC© Crowns are better looking when compared to Metal Porcelain (Standard Crowns or PFM) or Zirconium Crowns.

CEREC© is one of the latest advances in cosmetic dentistry that enables us to fabricate Crowns, in our onsite ceramic studio during a single visit (depending on the number required). If you are planning a few Crowns we can complete your treatment in 1 visit and there is no need for temporary teeth while you wait. In the case of a full smile makeover (between 16-28 teeth) we ask patients to travel for 5 days to allow us 3 days to complete your treatment.

We have CEREC© (made by Sirona) Porcelain blocks in our own clinic so we do not have to cover the cost of outside laboratory fees. Our in-clinic Cad Cam CEREC® Technology works with a 3D Scanning machine and computer assisted smile design technology to create or restore your teeth with perfect precision. The advantage is that you only need one dental appointment (45 minutes per tooth), the end result is more natural in appearance and they are also very strong. First we prepare your new smile design on the CEREC® Computer System and you have an opportunity to review the design and request changes according to your preference. You can also bring a photograph or picture of a smile that you like and we can copy the design. Our Cosmetic Dentists have a wealth of experience with the technology and will create a design that suits your mouth and face shape.

Colour Preference:
During your initial consultation you will be asked to choose your colour preference of your new crowns. You can choose brilliant Hollywood white or a more natural white a few shades darker. The choice is up to you depending on the appearance you prefer. If you are only having crowns on one or more teeth the dentist will match the colour with your surrounding teeth. If you are planning an overall brighter, whiter smile you can combine the treatment with Teeth Whitening.

Is the procedure painful?
No, you will have an injection to numb the area so you will not feel anything while your natural tooth is being prepared for the procedure. It should feel no different to having a filling.

How do I care for my dental Crown?
The Crown itself cannot decay, but decay can start where the edge of the Crown joins the tooth. Therefore, to prevent decay affecting the Crown, it is important to keep this area just as clean as you would your natural teeth. Brush two times a day with a fluoride toothpaste. Daily flossing is also very important to ensure the area between the Crown is clean.
